The Yellow Lantern Kampground in Cortland, New York was our parking spot for 8 days while we stayed with Mark’s parents in Syracuse. This campground is very clean, well kept and has a lot of wide open space. We parked in a full-hook-up back-in site and then left to stay with Mark’s parents in Syracuse for a week. At the end of the week we returned to find everything as we had left it. It was a safe, quiet place to park Old Glory for an extended time.

The Yellow Lantern has been a family owned and operated campground for the past 33 years. They have plans to update the electricity at some of their sites in the near future. Next time we will opt for one of their pull-thru water/electric only sites since they cost a little less per night and we really only need a place to park the RV while visiting family.
We did spend the last night of our reservation at the campground and found it to be a peaceful spot. The owners were very friendly and we would definitely stay there again. The location was the main reason we chose this campground. It’s good to have a couple of options in the Syracuse area for our visits.

While in Syracuse we had to make a few trips to Skaneateles. Of course we visited Doug’s Fish Fry and the Bluewater Grill .

Skaneateles is a great place for Dad Ballard to get some exercise in the beautiful sunshine, by the lake.
The stakes were high in the nightly Ballard Men Pitch games. I believe they played for back rubs.

Mark was able to help with a few little projects around the house. We enjoyed our visit with the Syracuse Ballards, the weather was beautiful and we felt like it was a productive visit.
From Syracuse we head to another “new” state for us. Cozy Hills Campground in Connecticut has great reviews and looks like a nice place to spend a few days. In next week’s blog post we’ll tell you about our continuing “Make the Best of Summer 2020” travel adventure as we mark off a couple more states on our map. It’s hard to believe we left Moonshine Creek almost 2 months ago and it feels like we’ve been moving non-stop. Eventually we’ll stay put for longer than a week… Thanks for following along : )
I love your pictures and especially all the smiles that are in them. Ray
