This month, July 2020, we began year #3 of our full-time RV life. Although we foresaw some potential dangers of living in such a small space and working so closely together, we are still alive, still married and we don’t plan to stop exploring anytime soon. A lot has stayed the same and a lot has changed. We’ve grown older -but felt younger. We’ve grown closer -can’t help but feel close in a 36 ft fifth wheel and we’ve been happier than ever since beginning this journey.
Over the past 2 years we have camped in many different places. We enjoy military famcamps since they are always reasonably priced and include the convenience of commissary and BX shopping close by. Click the links below to learn about some of our favorite FamCamps:
- Ft Meade (Ft. Meade, MD)
- Little Rock (Little Rock, AR)
- F.E. Warren (Cheyenne, WY)
- Davis Monthan (Tucson, AZ)
- Sigsbee (Key West, FL)
We have also stayed in KOA campgrounds, independent campgrounds and state parks. Some are nicer than others and we rely heavily on campground reviews when choosing a place to stay long-term. Of course, for a quick overnight boondocking spot along a travel route, we can’t beat Cracker Barrel, Cabelas or WalMart parking lots. If we want a unique and quiet off-the-beaten-path overnight stay, we choose Harvest Host sites (Wineries, Farms and Golf Courses.) Boondockers Welcome properties and Mom’s Moochdocking Driveway are awesome options too.
Last June (2019) our Workamping careers began and we have learned so much. Moonshine Creek Campground in Western North Carolina was where it all began. After 5 months there, we went south for the winter to workamp in central Florida for 4 months at Avon Park Air Force Range. We loved Moonshine Creek so much that we returned for spring/summer of 2020!
Looking ahead, we had hoped to make it back to PEI, Canada, but it looks like we will be making other plans now, Acadia National Park is still on our itinerary though. We anticipate the arrival of our first grandchild in January 2021. Spring of 2021 MAY be when we finally make it to Alaska. We look forward to lots more adventures wherever the road leads us! Our goal is to cover more ground, visit some new states and spend more time with family (Did I mention we are expecting our first grandbaby in January? ????)
Here is a look back at some “highlights” of our first 2 years…

Since March 2020 we have been working at Moonshine Creek, preparing for opening and helping with some projects. The campground is now fully open and staying very busy! It’s a great place to social distance.
We recently finished up our 2020 Moonshine Creek workamping commitment and our next major stop will be visiting family up north. We don’t know where we will spend our 35th anniversary yet but we hope to visit some new states in the next month.
So thanks for following this crazy, wonderful road trip of ours. We have met new friends, made great memories and discovered some extraordinary new places so far. Year 3 in our RV holds a lot of potential and we look forward to more exciting adventures!
So glad to see a review of your 3 years, you vagabonds!????
And the dream continues
Always love to hear your stories. Looking forward to following that lifestyle someday soon I hope.
I am almost envious. love, Vinny
